Shot list

My shortlist has been arranged in the order of which everything will be shot. There are three main sections including; inside the house scene, flashbacks and running through the cane fields. It was quite easy to group the sections together - this will be the order of which it will all be filmed in. I aim to plan this week and film the flashbacks next week and hopefully the house scene. The cane field scene will be filmed the following week. This will allow me a sufficient amount of time to complete my rough edit in case I need to re-film any scenes.

Cane fields symbolism

I am envisioning this sort of sunset over the cane fields for my film. This would look great in the film if successfully executed! I am also hoping that there is cane burning on the day so I am able to have real smoke in the distance. If this is not the case, I will use after effects and photo shop smoke in the distance which will have the same effect. The symbolism attached with the cane fields adds another element to the story. The burning of the cane in the background represents her family and friends burning down her dreams and not believing in her as an artist. 

Changes

I had to tweak my treatment as my main character was not eccentric enough to suit Tim Burton's usual character profiles. I have changed the aspect of the main, Charlotte applying for universities to her wanting to pursue her dreams of becoming an artist. Her family and friends discourage her from following her dreams and she ends up embarking on an angry run through the cane fields. This character is better suited for a Tim Burton film.

The film is an introduction to a character and delves into a teenager, Penelope who lives in a rural area of Australia. She wishes to pursue her dream of becoming an artist although her friends and family do not provide her with support. This discouragement infuriates her and she embarks on a run through the cane fields.

Summary

My 2-3 sentence summary is below. This is currently a rough draft and this will be tweaked through the drafting process.

The film is an introduction to a character and delves into a teenager; Penelope who lives in a rural area of Australia, due to her circumstances her family has never seen University as feasible. However, she wishes to pursue her dream of expanding on her studies although her friends and family do not provide her with support. This discouragement leads her to infuriate and she embarks on a run through the cane fields.

Week 1, lesson 1

Today we started to plan our class time to ensure that we maximise the time that we have available in class to finish it by the due date. This was a helpful process as it allowed me to go through the task and work out what sections need to be completed by what dates. The draft for the design element is due Monday, week 3. I will be using this weekend and the following week to complete this!
